Green glazed composition ushabti for Psamtek called Iahmes, born of Bastetirdis, shown standing on a trapezoidal base and raised pillar at the back, molded in mummiform, wearing a tripartite wig and plaited divine beard. The finely detailed face is defined with an incised mouth, large almond-shaped eyes, with arms crossed over the chest, hands protruding from the shroud, the fists holding an adze and hoe for work in the afterlife, and the right hand also holding a twisted rope connected to a seed basket behind the left shoulder. The legs are inscribed with eight rows of incised hieroglyphs forming part of Chapter 6 of The Book of The Dead, and naming the owner as Steward of the Treasury, Psametik, called Iahmes.

Condition:  The ushabti is intact and in excellent condition overall with no chips, cracks, or breaks.  One of the best examples for this owner I've seen.

Dimensions:  Height: 7 3/8 inches (18.7 cm)

Provenance:  Estate of Lady Ch. N., Germany, acquired from Jaap Polak Art Gallery, Spiegelgracht 3, 1017 JP Amsterdam, Netherlands, in March 1987, and accompanied by a signed statement from the gallery.
