high karat hollow ancient gold ring with red jasper intaglio depicting the bust of Athena, (Minerva) goddess of wisdom, in profile, wearing a helmet with flowing crest.
Finger rings were worn widely by Roman men and women. Gold rings were a badge of rank for equestrians, and rings with carved stones were used to seal documents.
