* A Roman bronze Archer's Ring, Roman Imperial Period, ca. 1st - 2nd Century AD

 Worn on the bow-holding thumb to protect it when drawing the bowstring, the large ring would have been essential to any archer going into battle. Shaped in the standard "v", the tapered front with nicely incised diagonal lines around the bottom edge and two horizontal rings around the top, the shank decorated with an incised zigzag pattern.

Dimensions: Length: 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm), US ring size: 14.5 

Condition: Intact and in good condition overall.

Provenance: Alex Malloy private collection, NJ, acquired in the 1980's.
