A Pair of Roman Gold & Glass Drop Earrings, ca. 1st century BC/AD

of high karat gold, each formed with a plain ear wire, surmounted by a granule and fronted by an openwork shield that is framed with fine twisted wire, the center with circular bezel and set with a green glass bead, a ring below that suspends a length of wire with volutes and threaded through a blue glass amphora bead.  

Dimensions: Overall Drop Length: 1 7/8 inch (4.76 cm)

Condition: Minor signs of wear that do not detract, in very good condition overall.

Provenance: Private NYC collection, previously in the private collection of Mr. Cecil Martin, Florida assembled in 1960's - 1970's.
