A Roman Bronze Figure of Mercury, ca. 2nd-3rd century AD

The nude god standing with his weight on his right leg, his left leg bent at the knee, depicted nude but for a cloak draped over his shoulders, tied at his right shoulder and wrapped around his left arm, holding his money bag in his extended right hand, and wearing a winged cap.

Condition: Intact and in excellent condition overall. Custom mounted.

Provenance:   Private NYC collection, ex. Gorny & Mosch, Munich, 2008 and previously in a private German collection.
