A Mayan terracotta owl whistle, ca. 500 - 800 A.D.

Natural buff color pottery figural whistle depicting an owl with wings held away from his sides, concentric circles for eyes and incised lines radiating away from his brow to imply the natural feather headdress of an owl; three tuning holes appear, two on his backside and one under his right wing, the blow hole appears from a tapered protrusion off his backside, where tail feathers might be.
