A Luristan Bronze Socket Macehead, ca. late 3rd - 2nd millennium BCE

Cast using the lost wax process, comprised of a long hollow shaft tapering to a conical point, with knob elements interspersed around the shaft.

Dimensions: Height: 5 3/4 inches (14.6 cm)

Condition: Areas of mineral deposits, with excellent blue/green patina, custom mounted.

Provenance: The Herbert Kavet private collection of Ancient Weapons, acquired in the 1970s and previously in the Aubrey Beese collection, British Museum.
