Fragment from an inscribed clay brick, the face depicting two lines of the cuneiform writing, composed of a series of small wedges made with a stylus.
Originally cuneiform writing involved small outline drawings of objects but then evolved to the wedge writing sometime after 3000 BCE.
Dimensions: Length: 4 3/4 inches (12 cm), Width: 2 1/8 inches (5.39 cm)
Condition: Fragmentary as described, cuneiform is crisply formed and in excellent condition.
Provenance: Alex Malloy collection, acquired in the 1980s.
