A Near Eastern Garnet and Carnelian Bead Necklace, ca. 1st millennium BCE

This lovely necklace comprises of ancient garnet and carnelian beads highlighted with 14K antique gold bead spacers.  The stone beads are all ancient, whereas the fine gold beads date to the 19th century and are of neoclassical style, so popular during this time.   The necklace further features a semi-circular gold pendant, inlaid with garnets of ancient style.

Condition:  The stone beads all show signs of ancient wear, the necklace has been restrung with 18K gold terminals.  All beads are intact and in very good condition overall.

Provenance:    New York City private collection, the collection assembled between 1960-1980.
