A Western Asiatic Gold and Banded Agate Necklace, ca. 1st millennium BC

Composed of barrel-shaped and cylindrical agate beads, graduated in size, centered by a flat urn-shaped agate pendant, interspersed with fluted gold spacer beads; restrung with a hook-and-loop closure.

Condition:  Small chips to the sides of the pendant but otherwise all beads intact and in very good to excellent condition overall, with nice signs of ancient wear.  Just beautiful!

Provenance:  Private Connecticut collection, purchased from Henry Anavian in the mid 1970s.
