A Near Eastern Bronze Finial, ca. 1200 - 800 BCE

Comprised of two parts, the lower portion a tubular shaped support surmounted and upper portion in the form of two rampant lions who support a human head on their forepaws. The lions are modeled with slender proportions and beautifully detailed.

Dimensions: Height: 9 1/2 inches  (23.5 cm)

Condition: Nicely patinated, with a custom rectangular base.

Provenance: Ex Chesire, UK private collection, acquired in the 1980s, thereafter private Virginia collection, acquired in 2008.
