A rare Egyptian Copper Fishing Harpoon, Middle Kingdom, ca. 2040 - 1786 BC

This rare copper fishing harpoon has two barbs, one behind the tip creating a triangular head and the other near the end of the shaft.

Dimensions:  Height:  5 1/2 inches (14.3 cm)

Condition: The tip flattened from use, the weapon is intact and in very good condition with excellent patination. Presented on a museum-quality custom mount.

Provenance: Private Virginia collection, acquired from Malter Galleries, February 2006. Ex Leighton Wilkie Collection, collection assembled during the 1960's.
