A rare Egyptian Bronze Arrowhead, 2nd Intermediate Period, ca.1759-1539 BC

of leaf form, with accompanying tag that reads:

"Tell-el. Yahoudi pres Chibin-el-Kanater, trouve a cote du sarcophage en terre-cuite, Fouilles Naville, Mars 1887," ("Tell-el. Yahoudi near Shebin el Kanater, located beside the terracotta sarcophagus, Naville excavations, March 1887")

Dimensions:  Length: 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm)

Exhibited:  Michael C Carlos Museum at Emory University, catalogue number:  L2005.004.007

Condition:  Heavily green/brown patina, intact and in very good condition overall

Provenance:  Naville excavations, March 1887, Ernest Cramer- Sarasin Collection (1838-1923), Geneva, Switzerland and then by descent, collection sold by Sotheby's NY 2005, thereafter on loan to the Michael C. Carlos museum from 2005 - 2015.
