An exceptional Egyptian Alabaster Vessel, 18th Dynasty, time of Hatshepsut, ca. ca. 1492–1425 BCE

Object No: EV2003

$2,950 USD

Delicate in appearance, this style of elegant alabaster cosmetic vessel was trendy during the time of Hatshepsut. The fine, thin walls and the rounded body hollowed to conform with the vessel's sides make an excellent container for perfumed lotions, while the wide, open rim allowed easy access. Cosmetic containers such as this example were luxury items designed to delight the senses of its owner. When used, the vessel's elegant shape and smooth texture, combined with the aromatic scent of the perfume and the rich color of the cosmetic, created an object that was both functional and pleasing.
