An Egyptian wood Shabti for the Royal Scribe, Aha-aa, 20th Dynasty, ca. 1185 - 1070 BC

mummiform, the wood covered by a thin layer of gesso that is painted yellow with details added in black, with a plain tripartite wig, the arms crossed on the chest, the clenched hands hold a pair of hoes and a large basket that is depicted on the back.  A single column of vertical text at the front reads: "The Osiris, Aha-aa, justified". Dimensions: Height: 6.75 inches (17.14 cm)

Condition: Intact with good definition, paint and gesso losses particularly to the left side of the text and the inner area of the foot.

Provenance: Private Connecticut collection, acquired in the 1960's and thereafter private collection of P.B., Virginia, acquired in 2007.
