An Egyptian Hyksos Steatite Design Scarab, 13th Dynasty, ca 1783-1779 B.C.

deeply incised with two “nefer” or “beauty” symbols set within a maze-like design.  The origin of maze patterns probably began as simplified renditions of groups of animals.

Condition: Pierced for attachment, intact overall in very good condition with bitumen remains on the top.
