A Phoenician Glass Pendant in the Shape of a Demonic Mask, ca. 4th-3rd centuries BC

of semi-opaque black glass, with additions in opaque yellow and white, the conical form splayed at bottom with rounded edge; circular suspension loop applied to top; rod hole underneath. The large eyebrows are applied in yellow and tooled flat at outer ends, horns (or ears) applied in black, eyes as black knobs applied over white circles.

Dimensions:Overall: 1 1/4 x 1 inches (3.2 x 2.5 cm)

Condition:Loss of one ear/horn otherwise intact with slight pitting, and weathering and encrustation inside rod hole.
