A silver denarius of Roman Emperor Maximinus I (ca. 235 - 238 AD) set as a pendant

Obv: the laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximinus I facing right, IMP MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG around. Rev: draped Fidelity standing front, facing left, holding a military sign in each hand, PMTRPII COSPP around.  In a 14 karat circular pendant set with two rubies and a diamond.

Dimensions: Diameter: 7/8 inch (2.2 cm), Weight: 5.3 g

Condition: Intact and in good condition overall, despite slight oxidation of silver on the reverse, looped for suspension.

Provenance:  Ex. private collection of S.H., Washington state, acquired in the 1990's.
